JANGAN pakai LOGIKA? - Guru Gembul

Prof. Michael Katz - Crime and Punishment(1)

Norton has a Crime and Punishment as well but has decided that they don't want to use their old translation anymore. This one was done in 1950 something I think, I don't remember. And they have commissioned me to translate a new Crime and Punishment. I brought along two-page excerpt from that new translation as I said,  I'm about a quarter of the way through it and this is actually my favorite scene in the whole novel. And I'll share it with you in my translation in a minute first I wanted to make a point about the original title of the novel  Does anybody know what it was? or has anybody encountered it in any sort of reading?  "Crime and Suffering, I thought somebody was just gonna say suffering and more suffering." Anybody else?  Before Crime and Punishment there was another title. Let's do this, if you were gonna give this book a title other than Crime and Punishment, what would you call?   Let's just see out of.....I've never done this never a...

Dr. Muhammad Hasan Utsman - Huruf Maushul, Alfiyyah Ibnu Malik bait 88

Dr. Muhammad Hasan Utsman - Isim Maushul, Alfiyyah Ibnu Malik bait 88

(Al-Mujadilah: 1). Jika kamu berhenti pada kata "التي" saja tanpa mel...

Prof. Michael Katz - Crime and Punishment(2)

Just out of curiosity, whether any of you come up with the tittle, that the first had before he changed it to Crime and Punishment. So what would you call this book? "Crime and crossing over"  "Crime and crossing over because of the transgressions" Okay,  anybody just let your imaginations run wild. "Crime and suffering"  "Crime and suffering, I thought somebody was just gonna say suffering and more suffering"  Anybody else?  "The Superman"  "The Superman or the extraordinary man,  Superman was Nietzsche term later but that's a good thought."  Anybody else?  "Crime and Penance"  "Crime and Penance that's a good one, because I have another cartoon in my Dostoevsky folder and it shows Dostoevsky talking to his editor and on the editor's desk there's a huge stack of paper which is clearly Dostoevsky manuscript and the editor is saying to stvi it's good but it's too long you have to cut it by...

Prof. Michael Katz - Russian Joke, Adam and Eve

I can start with a joke, but it isn't one of the Jewish jokes, it's a Russian Joke but it's a very good joke.  So there's this large canvas with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden . And there are three people standing in front of the canvas an Englishman Frenchman and a Russian. And they're looking at the canvas they're looking at the painting and they're trying to decide to which nationality Adam and Eve belong.  The Englishman " looks at the painting and he says I say they're so demure they're so reserved obviously they're English "  The Frenchman says " look at these people, they are beautiful, they are naked, they are french.." The Russian shakes his head  "comrades you are both wrong, look closely at details in this painting. These people have no clothes, these people have no where to live, these people have only one apple to share between them for food, and these people are being told they live in Paradise. These ...

Thingking like a lawyer - Adam Lange

I once had a law professor that offered to make the joke. That the entire reason why you go to law school is just so you can learn a handful of fancy Latin phrases to impress people at dinner parties. Whether you're making small talk with a stranger at a bar, whether you're at a dinner party, it's pretty common to ask people "What do you do?" and talk about your profession. And when people find out that I'm a lawyer, it's pretty common that people want to ask me about their legal problems something they've had before, something they think is around the corner, or better yet, their cousin's aunt's sister halfway across the country is in this mess.  What can they do?  And odds are, you know, for lawyers that face this type of situation, it might be that they ask you a very specific question about the type of work you do,  and maybe you can help them a little,  maybe you can point them in the right direction. But if you think about it, odds are,...
